Tracking billable hours
Log time against clients and turn billable hours into revenue.
Hours in Dudley is client billable time tracking — not payroll or labor-cost tracking. You and your team log time against clients; billing rates turn those hours into revenue when entries are marked as billed.
Hours tracking is available on Pro and Enterprise. Owners can turn it on or off for the organization under Settings → Hours.
Log time
- Go to Hours → My hours.
- Select Add entry.
- Enter the work date, hours, optional client, and notes.
- Save.
Team members log their own time. Managers and owners can also set an hourly rate or final amount on an entry, and mark it billed when they create it.
Billing rates
Billable dollars come from your hourly rates, resolved in this order:
- A client + employee override
- A client default override
- The employee’s default hourly rate
- The organization’s base hourly rate
Owners and admins manage overrides under Hours → Pricing (when pricing overrides are enabled for your plan).
Turn hours into revenue
Unbilled time sits as WIP until someone posts it:
- Auto-bill — turn on “Auto-bill new time entries” in Settings → Hours (clients can override) so new entries with a rate post to Revenue automatically.
- Review & bill — go to Hours → Review & bill, adjust rates if needed, then Mark as billed. That creates a linked revenue record (category hours).
Marking an entry unbilled, or deleting it, removes the linked revenue.
See billable progress
Across My hours, Team summary, By client, and the main dashboard you can see:
- Billed hours and billed revenue (already posted)
- Unbilled hours and WIP $ (not yet in revenue)
Filter the Revenue list by the Hours source to review what time has already been posted.
